Tovaria supplies McDonald with double
It was day to remember for New Zealand jockey James McDonald who registered a double when Tovaria swooped late to take the Property Partners Earley Auctioneers Handicap.
McDonald came with a run aboard the Muhtarram filly from over a furlong out and the pair kept on strongly to lead close home.
Winning trainer Eddie Harty said afterwards: “James [McDonald] gave that a peach of a ride. I didn’t think he was going to get out a furlong from home.”
“She is a smart filly and I’m tempted to go for the Ulster Oakes although it may come a bit quick so we might wait and run her Derby weekend.”
McDonald was on the mark in the previous race when Cabin Point took the Four Mile House Handicap.
