The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Liam Walsh, that L.J. McGuinness, rider of Pivot Bridge (GB), had attempted to weigh out at 2lbs overweight and wearing an unapproved body protector. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had two body protectors in his equipment, one for raceriding and the other for exercise riding. He added that he had inadvertadly worn the wrong one to the scales. In relation to the 2lbs overweight he stated that this was his first day back race riding since being injured six weeks ago and he was riding in his lightest saddle. Stephen Toner, Authorised representative for Adrian McGuinness attended this enquiry. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.J. McGuinness was in breach of Rule 198(vii) by weighing out at 2lbs overweight which had not been declared under Rule195(i) and suspended him for 2 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration. Furthermore the Stewards were satisfied that L.J. McGuinness was in breach of R10 in relation to body protectors and suspended him for 7 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration. The Stewards granted permission for L.J. McGuinness to ride in this race at 2lbs overweight.
A.E. Lynch, rider of Buster Dan Dan trained by Terence O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Just Call Me trained by A.J. McNamara, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on his left hind leg.

McGuinness, rider of Pivot Bridge (GB), that having weighed out at 2lbs overweight with Stewards permission, had weighed in at a further 1.4lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had lost 6lbs overnight and had a cup of water to rehydrate before going out to ride. The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Liam Walsh, that C. Brassil, rider of Miss Eyecatcher had weighed in at 1.1lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had no weight difficulty having used a 10lb saddle and could only claim that the overweight was due to his mount perspiring profusely before the race and this in turn had made the equipment heavier. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that C. Brassil had breached Rule 231 and cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration.
