Torphichen takes last in style
Novice chaser Torphichen showed that he has lost none of his speed when running away with the concluding 1m2f handicap at the Curragh today.
Fran Berry sent his mount to the front early in the straight and he soon powered clear of his rivals.
The Alhaarth gelding eventually recorded a two-and-a-half length success over Captain Dancer
Winning trainer Edward O'Grady was also responsible for the third-placed Jumbo Rio who was sent off 11/2 favourite. Leah Claire was withdrawn at the start after being the subject of a gamble (6/1 in the morning into 3/1).
There was also some money around for the winner, backed from 9/1 in the morning into 6/1 on course.
O'Grady was in Limerick where The Real Article finished third in the novice hurdle.
