Torina lands gamble
Division 1 of The Congrats To Deora & Julie Handicap was won by the Michael Grassick Torina with Niall McCullagh doing the steering in the colours of the trainers son Michael Grassick Jnr.
McCullagh tracked leader in 2nd and improved to lead from 2f out and was strongly pressed inside final furlong but under a strong drive by McCullagh, the pair managed to hold off the efforts of Derrymore Dawn with Fran Berry in the saddle by a neck.
Michael Grassick Jnr said, "She is still an immature filly and idled in front but she did it well in the end. We'll look for a similar type race for her next time. She's runs best with an ease in the ground."
Torina was opened up at 8/1 and was returned at 11/2 second favourite.
