The Mary Hallahan trained Toon River caused a 20/1 upset to win the Family Day at Gowran Park Sunday April 17 Maiden Hurdle at Gowran today.

Ridden by Davy Condon, the son of Witness Box ran out a game winner, having made all of the three miles trip. Toon River eventually needed to did deep to hold the challenges of King Of The Refs (which made a costly mistake at the final flight) and Red Tiger by half a length and a neck.

Macroom, Co Cork based Hallahan was not available for comment following the win, her second of the season.
