Tongue strap works its magic on A Hit Is A Hit
Fitted with a tongue strap for the first time, A Hit Is A Hit finally got back to winning ways in the LMFM Raceday Handicap over two miles, for his trainer Joanna Morgan with Wayne Lordan in the saddle.
Having won a bumper on his second start at Roscommon back in September of 2009, the 6yo son of Kahyasi disappointed on his fourteen efforts since, failing to follow up on that victory.
However he bounced back to form today, hitting the front a furlong from home before running on strongly to record an easy five length win. Regal Tramp for Vincent Ward ran her usual consistent race finishing back in second at 8/1 while Passion Planet finished a further short head back in third at 16/1 for Ger Lyons.
Winning trainer Joanna Morgan said afterwards: "He needs a test of stamina. He'll go for the Ulster Cesarewitch next at Down Royal over two miles two furlongs (on Friday next).
"I hope the handicapper isn't too hard on him as this was on the all weather.
"I think the tongue tie helped as he''s a nervy horse and has been holding his breath in races."
Donal Murphy
