Toner D'Oudairies took the feature event at Sligo today in great style as he ran out an easy winner of the Martin Reilly Motors Hyundai i40 Chase.
Market rival Go All The Way who was a solid 9/10 favourite from 6/5, soon claimed the lead in the two-and-a-half mile contest.
Davy Russell had settled 7/4 shot Toner D'Oudairies (evens in morning) out the back early on but moved through to track the front-runner going out on the last circuit.
The pair had it between them going to the second last and a better jump propelled the Gigginstown horse into the lead.
Go All The Way was soon fighting a losing battle and Russell could afford to cruise home from the last fence to record a cosy four length success on the Gordon Elliott-trained gelding.
The winner was recording his third success from four starts. He had returned to winning ways at Listowel last time having disappointed when pulled up at Killarney previously.
“That's his level and all credit to Gordon who has placed him well,” said Russell afterwards.
Referring to the runner-up the rider added:- “I rode him before and I thought he wouldn't like the ground.”
