It was a good night for the punters at Tipperary with all seven favourites obliging, including Bitsandpieces for the returning Mark Walsh in the closing Follow TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden Hurdle.
Walsh fractured his left arm in a fall from the Mick Winters-trained Winter Breeze at Thurles back in February, and coincidentally, he teamed up with Winters on his first ride back from that injury.
The 13-8 favourite travelled well before being produced after the last and was all out to hold Davids Jewel by three-quarters of a length.< Mr Picotee (5-4fav) edged out Three Stars in a thrilling finish to the Point To Point Evening 14th May Maiden Hurdle, the first of three National Hunt races on the mixed card.< Disputed prevailed by a length and a quarter from Samanntom in the Follow TipperaryRaces On Facebook Handicap Hurdle.
The pick of the Flat action was the Join The Tipperary Races Supporters Club Handicap, in which Unrequited returned from a layoff to break his duck with ease.
Ger Lyons' four-year-old quickly put the race to bed after taking it up from long-time leader Long Journey Home two furlongs out.< Mandatario stayed on well for second but could only get within two and a quarter lengths of the winner who was eased down by Leigh Roche.
Aidan O'Brien's Washington DC (4-9fav) built on his narrow debut defeat at Dundalk with a facile success in the opening Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Maiden.
Joseph O'Brien was looking round for dangers on the Zoffany colt long before taking it up from Nice And Dandy inside the final furlong and pulled two and a quarter lengths clear with the minimum of fuss.
The father and son combination completed a double courtesy of King Of Aragon in the Fundraising Events At Tipperary Races Maiden
Those who took odds of 2-5 about the winner never had a moment's worry as the Montjeu colt was soon sent to the front and cruised home two and a quarter lengths clear of the Jaleo < Sassaway powered home to score by a length and a quarter from Hi Empress in the Book Online At TipperaryR
