Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy added to their earlier Ballinrobe success with Carrig Cathal bringing up a near 30/1 double at the County Mayo venue as 2014 Triumph Hurdle hero Tiger Roll made a winning start over fences in the McHale Fusion 3 Plus Beginners Chase.
Backed from 7/2 into 5/2 joint favourite on track, the Authorized gelding showed his class to career away from the last to put eight lengths between himself and Buster Dan Dan
Tiger Roll had got to the front before that final obstacle, where he made a slight mistake, but he soon stamped his authority of proceedings for a good win.
"Going back to the Triumph Hurdle win he was the class horse in the race," reasoned Elliott of the Gigginstown House Stud-owned winner.
He further explained: "He hasn't been easy to train, we've had a lot of problems with him.
"It's nice to see him get his head in front again and Jack gave him a good ride. There is a good programme for him and I'd say he can even go further than that.
"There is plenty of options for him during the summer. The fences might spark him up but he has been disappointing since winning the Triumph."
