Thynetocatcher is a smart one
Thynetocatcher looked a promising mare when winning her 'point' at Dungarvan and she hit the racecourse proper with a bang when coming home a good winner of the Bennettsbridge Point-to-Point INH Flat Race at Gowran.
A daughter of that good young stallion, Catcher In The Rye, Thynetocatcher travelled beautifully in behind the pace under Colin Motherway and she got a great run on the rail early in the straight. The easy to back 8/1 shot was soon in front and though the well-backed favourite Kandinski (3/1 this morning into 13/8) tried hard to peg her back, he was two lengths inferior at the line. The pair left Ballysteen twenty two lengths back in third.
Roger McGrath trains Thynetocatcher and he said: "She's a beautiful mare and I bred her myself. She's the owner, John Connery's first horse. Her dam, Randal Island is a half-sister to Sparkling Gold and Cable Beach."
