Trainer Gordon Elliott and jockey Davy Russell combined for doubles at Tramore today as Fridaynightlights landed his own third career success when landing the Tramore Supporters Club Rated Novice Hurdle.
The pair won the opener with short-head winner Swingbridge and had half a length in hand with Fridaynightlights, who edged past Spin A Yarn on the run-in.
Elliott’s assistant Ian ‘Busty’ Amond later commented “he was probably entitled to win it on ratings and did it well enough and Davy gave him a good ride. He is due to go to the Sales at Ascot on Tuesday."
Russell was partnering his 41st winner of the new season and already leads Ruby Walsh by 14 wins at the head of the Jockeys’ Championship while Elliott has moved on to the 37 winner mark this term and trails leader Willie Mullins by E709,000-E550,000 at a very early stage of the Trainers’ Championship.
