Third-time lucky for Weld's Mayaadeen

The Dermot Weld trained Mayaadeen made it third time lucky at Naas this evening when landing the Gannon Office Supplies Maiden under jockey Leigh Roche.
The son of Invincible Spirit had previously managed the unusual feat of being beaten on both his previous career starts at odds of 8/13 and indeed was installed the morning favourite at 8/11. On-course Mayaadeen drifted to an SP of 6/5 as many jumped ship, but in the end scored a cosy length and a quarter success over Freiheit
Weld later stated “he got a nice ride from Leigh Roche. He rode him with confidence, that's what I said to him - 'go out and give him a ride with confidence' and that's what he did.
“He's progressive and we'll probably go for a handicap with him next. We're not in any hurry, we'll take it in stages and see how he comes on. He's gone and done his job today.”
