The Truant (4/1jf) registered a second career success today, following up last August's win at Sligo with another at the course, in the Lake Isle Of Innisfree Handicap Hurdle (Div II) for trainer Paul Flynn and jockey Kevin Sexton.
Transferred recently from the Tar Melting & Cuckoo Singing Syndicate to the Thirteen Apostles Racing Syndicate, the grey today held his prominent position and while others dropped out, The Truant held on by a half-length from Belgoprince
Flynn said "I go back a long way with Kevin and it's great to give him a few winners. He knew this horse from Peter's (Fahey) and gave him a great ride. His form suggests he wants softer ground but he handled that well.”
The Galway Hurdle-winning trainer added “the boys (Thirteen Apostles) want to go to Galway and we'll try to get into the 0-109 there but he's still rated low so will probably have to win another race to get in."
