The Silver Crown skates up at Ballinrobe
She finally got her head in front at Bellewstown last time and The Silver Crown now has the winning habit as she emphatically proved by twelve lengths in the Beamish Handicap under Gary Carroll.
The grey daughter of Verglas led over two furlongs out and those that backed her from 8/1 into 5/1 were enthusiastically cheering her home from the stands as Carroll could sit up in the final furlong on the way to seeing off Sarsfield Legend.
Michael Mulvany trains the three-year-old for his father Larry and he said: "I'm a little surprised she has won so well but the handicapper did leave her alone after winning in Bellewstown. We've always thought she is better on soft ground and everything seemed to come right tonight. I'd suppose it's Galway here we come now and hopefully the handicapper doesn't kill her with weight."
