The Pier pushes the boat out at Killarney
The Joe Murphy trained The Pier under Bill Lee, followed up his course and distance win last month with a win in the Tadhg Clifford Groundcare Handicap at Killarney this evening.
The son of Alhaarth stretched clear of his 14 rivals, eventually recording an easy three and a half lengths win over Another Jayjay
Afterwards a delighted Murphy reported “The Pier should make an ideal hurdler, and may make his jumping debut at Listowel.next month. We may run him on the Flat again in the meantime but he wouldn't want the ground any slower.”
The win was Fethard based Joe (J.G.) Murphy's sixth of the '09 Flat season.
