The Byrnes dominate at Wexford
Sean Byrne senior and junior from Castledermot enjoyed a day to remember with a 59 and a half to one double at Wexford, the former saddling winners Steel Park and Lead Kindly Light with his son and namesake doing the steering on the pair.
Lead Kindly Light was going to win the Ferns Handicap Hurdle from a fair way out and she ultimately proved four lengths too strong for Korean
Byrne senior, who has 8 in training, said: "She had a wind-op and I always knew she was a great mare. She is well-bred and she is some leaper, a real chaser. We'll try her in another handicap now."
The winning owner and breeder Brendan Cantwell from Bunclody has had Tax Relief and Panchovillas Gleam on the go before and he remarked: "It is a wonderful breed but we've been unlucky with them."
