The Amarillo Kid takes Wexford bumper
Local trainer Willie Codd landed the concluding Enniscorthy Bumper at Wexford today with Bacchanal’s half brother The Amarillo Kid under Mikey Fogarty.
The son of Milan was produced to lead over a furlong out to eventually comfortably beat 4/5 favourite The Way We Were
Afterwards Codd stated “after The Amarillo Kid won his point to point I thought he was very good but he’s had a few problems which just needed some time. He was a bit immature and he owners were very patient!
“All the ‘word’ today was for O’Grady’s horse (The Way We Were) but our horse travelled well and did it well. I’m not sure how good he is but he is a half brother to Bacchanal (who beat Limestone Lad to win the 2000 Stayers Hurdle) and he’ll either go for a winners’ bumper or go hurdling now.”
