Jockey Paul Townend completed a double at Cork today when steering the Edmond Kent trained Thanks For Tea to win the Corkracecourse.ie Mares Handicap Hurdle.
Townend, earlier successful on Alelchi Inois for his employer Willie Mullins, held Thanks For Tea up in rear of mid-division before making his challenge on the inner in the home straight. The daughter of Shantou, a maiden hurdle winner at Gowran last-time out, led before the last before staying on well for a two and a quarter lengths win over Give Her Bach
Kent wasn't present but Townend later reported "she had the experience in maiden hurdles but they went pretty quick and I was further back than I wanted to be. She is improving though and did it nicely."
