Tempo faces 16 rivals in National
Seventeen runners will go to post at 4.10pm this afternoon in Listowel for the featured €160,000 Guinness Kerry National after Archie Boy and Muirhead were both taken out due to the testing ground (officially soft to heavy). Glenstal Abbey (Denis Hogan), available at 33/1, is the only one of the three reserves to take his chance, while Muirhead's withdrawal (generally 12/1) has had little effect on the market. Blazing Tempo has been easy to back today but still heads bookmakers lists at 13/2, while the one's for money are Uncle Junior Lenabane and Dr Whizz – the latter two were both tipped up by Pricewise in the Racing Post.
English challenger Minella Boys and Gonebeyondrecall are two others that have attracted support at fancy prices in a wide open event.
Other non-runners on the afternoon include Leceile in the maiden hurdle (5.15), which leaves Duc De Savoie a shade of odds-on at 5/6.
Paudi The Punter and Thirteen Up have both been taken out of the bumper (5.45), where Local Celebrity (6/4) and Murchu (5/2) dominate the betting.
