Temlett landed a serious touch when making all under Paul Townend in the two-mile handicap hurdle at Cork.

It was a terrific training performance by JD Moore, son of top handler Arthur, who brought the gelding back from a 1061-day absence to land the spoils.

He was backed from as big as 25/1 in the morning and was eventually sent off the 11/2 joint favourite.

His market rival Echo Bob looked a big challenger from the second last but had to settle for second as the winner stuck on well to score by two lengths.

The gelding was formerly a useful type for Willie Mullins but has been off with leg trouble. Townend was a late replacement for the injured Keith Donoghue.

Joint owner Danny McGinley was on hand afterwards with trainer Moore in action at a point-to-point today.

"That's the first horse I've had my name on but I've had a few in syndicates," said the winning owner from Howth.

"I own him along with Joe Chambers, who is from Ennis in Clare.

"All credit goes to John Daniel. This horse won an Ulster Derby for Willie Mullins but had leg trouble. He'll probably go to Fairyhouse now for a handicap hurdle.

"I wasn't the one who gambled him but I know who was! I only had a small bet each way on the track. I didn't get any of the fancy prices this morning."

Moore, speaking on the phone, later added that the winner will be heading to Cheltenham for the Brightwell Sales in two weeks time.
