Taxie finally gets his turn

Call The Taxie gained a deserved success when claiming the Killinan Maiden Hurde at Thurles for Ellmarie Holden.
The Scorpion gelding had been placed in six hurdles since winning his point-to-point last February.
Davy Russell always had the 5/4 favourite to the fore in the three-miler and he stuck on well in the closing stages when asked for an effort. Mon Lino moved up to dispute three from home but couldn't match Call The Taxie from the last as he stayed on for a two-length success.
"He loved the ground, had his trip and Davy gave him a super ride,” said Holden.
"He might get a little break now, after his win, and in fairness to him he has always run his race. He'll go chasing next season."
