Tawnies prevails in Dromahane
Tawnies has been a good servant to the Thomas O'Leary yard but as a ten-year-old now he gained only the third win of his career when capturing the Dromahane Steeplechase under Philip Enright.
This was a comedy of errors as far as jumping was concerned as favourite, Jawad unseated Barry Geraghty at the fifth (stood down for the day – limped back to the weigh-room). Shazand unseated Andrew McNamara two out when still in with every chance and mistakes three out and at the last did nothing for Warcraft (leading at the time).
Tawnies eventually proved too strong for Warcraft on the run-in, prevailing by one and three parts of a length.
O'Leary is now unsure as to whether to run Tawnies again before his summer objective – the Galway Plate.
