Patrick Mullins didn’t have to move a muscle on 3/10 favourite Tasitiocht as she swept by Dale Street (13/2) in the final furlong of the Kilbeggan bumper to win in a canter by six and a half lengths.
The five-year-old mare, trained by Patrick’s dad Willie Mullins, was stepping up on a second-placed bumper run behind stablemate Glens Melody at Punchestown in April.
“It’s what you would hope from a 1/3 shot. She ran very well at Punchestown. I thought she would win but she got beaten by a good mare,” Patrick Mullins said.
“The syndicate (C C R Racing Syndicate) is made up of friends of mine. A few of the lads are from Galway so she might go there.
“She has lots of speed and I think she will win on the flat. I’ll talk to dad and we might try to get an amateur race on the flat for her.
“I have to give a mention to Peter Parkhill who did a lot of the pre-training with her and did a great job.”
James Wilkinson’s Rohan’s Pride came home third at 20/1, beaten 12 and a half lengths by the winner.
Despite the prohibitive odds, Tasitiocht was well supported from an opening show of 1/2 down to 3/10.
Willie Mullins secured a first and last race double at Kilbeggan today with Sin Palo and Tasitiocht.
This win gives Patrick and Willie Mullins an 8/18 record at Kilbeggan when teaming up since 2008.
