Only two horses ever got into the Roscommonracecourse.ie Hurdle race and when Moon Dice fell when still going well three out, Tarla was left to come home at her leisure.
Tarla (4/5f) gave Willie Mullins an across the card double today as Sweet My Lord also won at Tramore.
This was Tarla’s first outing over hurdles for 849 days since winning a Grade 3 at Punchestown in April 2010. She did though hack up in a flat maiden here in July.
She won by 20 lengths from White Star Line (8/1) who stayed on past the weakening Tornedo Shay (10/1) for second.
“Apart from Moon Dice it wasn’t the most competitive race. The fact that she hadn’t run over hurdles for so long was a good effort,” winning jockey Emmet Mullins said.
“Both horses were travelling well. It would certainly have been interesting.”
Last year’s Galway Hurdle winner Moon Dice was the only market rival to Tarla at 5/2, backed in from 3/1.
