Tannery (5/1) stayed on best close home to take the Group 3 Kilboy Estate Stakes for her trainer David Wachman with Wayne Lordan aboard.

The 11/10 favourite Caponata hit the front two furlongs from home with the winner under pressure in third.

However Tannery responded best inside the final furlong and hit the front in the last 50 yards before going on to score by half a length at the line.

Caponata hung on for second with the staying on Up a neck back in third at 11/4 for Aidan & Joseph O’Brien.

The winning daughter of Dylan Thomas was recording her fourth success of the season and first in Group 3 company with a handicap win and two Listed contests already to her name.

She has improved a lot this season having failed to win her maiden as a 2yo after four starts.

Her trainer David Wachman said afterwards: "She is a very tough filly and seems to handle any kind of ground.

"She will go a bit further. I’m not sure what happened her at Leopardstown, the ground was loose and sloppy there and she just didn’t pick up (5th there in June).

"She is a very straightforward filly and has a good pedigree.

"There is a good programme of races here in Ireland for her and she might go for the Blandford Stakes. She could also go for a race in the US in the autumn."

Winning rider Wayne Lordan said afterwards: "She is improving and she enjoyed the ground really well.

"Usually I drop her in but we ran a bit forward today. She got a bit flat footed when Pat (Smullen) kicked on but once stamina came into play my filly got going and won well at the line."

Joseph O'Brien picked up a two day whip ban on third-placed Up.
