Tally Em Up gains black-type success
Half an hour after Kempes odds-on defeat in the opener at Thurles, Moskova (1/1f) added to favourite backers' woes when only finishing second to Tally Em Up in the featured Grade 3 Beamish Stout Phil Sweeney Memorial Chase.
Moskova, a second losing favourite ride on the day for Ruby Walsh, failed to travel with much enthusiasm and Walsh needed to work hard to eventually steer the grey mare into second behind Tally Em Up, and Davy Russell. Tally Em Up moved through to lead before the second last fence and despite 'running down' the final fence, stayed on for a length and a quarter win.
Afterwards delighted winning trainer Philip Rothwell reported “we ran Tally Em Up in the hope of gaining black-type and it was great to win! She probably needed the run at Cork in December but had been a bit unlucky not to have gained blacktype in the past.”
