Leading flat owner Michael Tabor had a winner over jumps at Cork today as his home-bred Meticulous landed the Fermoy Maiden Hurdle for trainer Joseph O'Brien and jockey J.J. Slevin.
Both Meticulous' dam Refinement and grandam Maneree placed in Cheltenham Festival bumpers for Tabor, with Refinement filling second place in 2004 and fourth the following year.
Today Meticulous, a Killarney debut bumper winner in July 2018, recorded a second career win when scoring at his sixth jumping run when beating Don't Matter Now easily by 4.25L.
Afterwards Slevin reported “he has a mark of 131 so would probably want to be winning it. He jumped well today, he got confidence from having a bit of room, liked the good ground and won easily.
“He might win a novice now and going that trip seems to suit him and he is a nice one to have for the summer. It's my second time winning in these colours and I won on his brother West Coast Time.”
Fifteen minutes later, Montego Bay won a Naas maiden in the famous Tabor silks.
