Synergy shock in Tipp opener
Blackwell Synergy caused a 33/1 shock when making a winning debut for John Supple in the opening maiden hurdle at Tipperary this evening.
The French-bred gelding defied his starting price to get off the mark at the first time of asking.
Tom Doyle produced his mount to claim the front-running Loch Long at the final flight and he stayed on well to score by a length-and-a-half. Sun Fisher looked set to be involved when falling at the last while 9/10 favourite Prince Chaparral proved a disappointment back in fifth.
It was a third winner for Supple, who has had a licence for just over two years and has ten in training at his Abbeyfeale base:-
"We've always liked him and he's always worked well so it wasn't a total surprise.
"We thought he might come on for the run. He'll stay on the go over the summer and will make a nice chaser eventually."
Prince Chaparral was reported to have never travelled and choked in running.
