Sweet Street gained a second win in as many months at Cork today as the Roger McGrath-trained mare landed the BetVictor Irish EBF Novice Hurdle under jockey Ian Power.
The daughter of Sholokhov, a Wexford winner in September, raced prominently and went clear of her rivals after the third last flight, eventually staying on well for a three and a quarter lengths win over Dedanann
McGrath later stated “she was homebred and is owned by my father-in-law (John Motherway) and is improving a little every day.
“It was a pity she missed getting black-type at Limerick the last day but we might have another shot at it somewhere. She is versatile ground-wise but her secret is she needs a trip.
“There is a Listed novice back here in a fortnight against the geldings but there's another Grade 3 against mares over two miles in Down Royal next month. She might get an entry for that as it is a lovely big track and I wouldn't totally rule it out.”
