Swedish St Leger winner Lot Of Joy (1/7f) was the middle leg of trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Paul Townend's Fairyhouse trebles today, effortlessly landing the Fairyhouse Schooling Races (Mares) Maiden Hurdle.
Winner of the 2021 Swedish classic, which is a 1m7f conditions race worth £37,000 to the winner, the Irish-bred Camelot filly was today scoring at the third attempt over hurdles and readily swept aside 14 rivals.
Trainer Mullins, earlier successful with Insit and later with Viva Devito said “Lot Of Joy is learning and bringing her back to two miles was probably the best thing to do. She's learning to race like a national hunt mare now rather than a Flat mare.
“She's settling better and jumping better. We're very pleased with her progress.
“She's in the Mares Novice at Cheltenham and I'd imagine that will be her next target. She'll be easier to ride there as there is usually a very good pace in that. We're looking forward to it.”
