Getoutwhenyoucan completed a hat-trick of wins for trainer Charlie Swan when winning the Best Odds In Your Paddy Power Shop Handicap Hurdle at Naas today for owner J.P. McManus and jockey Tony McCoy.
McCoy's mount was strongly pressed by Somethingwonderful between the final two hurdles but, crucially, Somethingwonderful's rider Bryan Cooper lost his whip on the approach to the final flight. Getoutwhenyoucan was untidy over that final obstacle but McCoy was able to rally the gelding on the run-in for a half length win over the hands and heels ridden Somethingwonderful.
Former multiple Champion Jockey Swan later quipped “it's a help having Tony (McCoy) although I don't know who gave the horse a harder ride from the last - me or him!
“Ger Fox (jockey) had done well on him before today and while the horse is usually a good jumper, he missed the last two. It's great to win three in a row with him and he loves that ground and will get a further.
“We'll probably have to look at running him in a better class of handicap next.”
