The first race ever held for grey horses only was won by 3/1 favourite Susiescot in a head bobber with Packsapunch at the Curragh.
The 3/1 favourite was third at the two furlong pole, moved up to lead under a furlong out and stayed on to pip the runner-up by a short head.
Packsapunch (9/2) came with a strong run in the final furlong and just failed to get up for Andrew Lee and Declan McDonogh.
Leigh Roche rode the winner who was trained by Willie McCreery.
“I’m delighted. She deserved that as she was very unlucky in Leopardstown and the handicapper dropped her two pounds," Willie McCreery said.
“She’s only small to be carrying all that weight. We’ll keep going with her and find a little handicap somewhere. She hated that ground.”
Seven horses went to post in this unique race sponsored by The Irish Field. Ten races are sponsored at the Curragh this year by that newspaper.
