The four-year-olds and up maiden over the extended ten furlongs saw Sunwalk get off the mark at the eighth time of asking for father and son combination Andy and Andrew Slattery.
The latter positioned his mount behind the leaders before allowing him to stride on in front half a mile form the finish. The 69-rated son of Vadamos was pressed in the closing stages by Jaafel but stayed on well to record a neck success from that rival with Gold Wing two lengths further away in third.
Assistant trainer Brian Slattery said: “He’s shown us a lot more at home than what he has produced so far on the track. Hopefully he’ll build on this and keep going forward.
“He’s a very big horse and it’s probably going to take time to grow into himself.
“He ran well on soft ground in Gowran last year and at some stage he will jump a hurdle.”
