Third behind the mare Three By Two in the Ladies Cup on Tuesday, 33/1 chance Subset got his revenge on that rival in the Donohoe Solutions Cross Country Chase.
Both horses tracked the leaders before coming through to dispute on the approach to the last, and the Peter Maher-trained nine-year-old took over on the run-in.
Three By Two could find no more and it was the winner's stablemate Blast Of Koeman himself fourth in Thursday's La Touche Cup, who finished best of all to get within half a length of Subset. Three By Two was another three parts of a length back in third.
Winning rider Barry Stone said:- “I was hoping he'd run well but I wasn't expecting to win. I thought he would have been placed.
“He found plenty, he just idled a bit when he was left in front and on his own. I didn't want to get there too soon on him.
“It's good to get a winner here at Punchestown, it's great meeting for us amateurs.”
