Two stalwart sprinters fought out the finish in the five-furlong handicap as Teddy Boy was produced with a well-timed challenge by Danny Sheehy to beat the always prominent Pillar by half a length.
The gambled-on favourite Harry’s Hill (6s into 7/2 before the off) was a further length and a half away in third.
It was a fourth career win on start number fifty-nine for Teddy Boy while the nine-year-old runner-up has run almost twice as many times with a tally of seven victories.
Winning trainer Eddie Lynam said: "The girl (Sorcha Woods) that rode the second rides out for us and I'm after mugging her. She gave that a cracking ride.
"Danny is good and he gets on with him. This fella we used to take down to the start early as he would run away. He hasn't been doing it but he did it today.
"He's a grand little horse, he runs plenty. He's in again on Saturday in an apprentice handicap at Navan and I don't know if I'd run him with a 7lb penalty.
"He has always run well here and the owner (wife Aileen) is in form as she is after having two winners this week!"
