Stunned Silence at Dundalk
The betting suggested that the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Fillies) at Dundalk was a two horse affair but with Rachel getting no luck in running it was left to the other joint favourite Wave to make the best of her way home. However she couldn't resist the late challenge of the very easy to back newcomer Stunned Silence (7/2 this morning out to 12/1).
Pat Smullen rode Stunned Silence for Moyglare Stud Farm and Dermot Weld. The successful American-bred daughter of Officer got to the front in the final hundred yards and kept on well to beat Wave by three parts of a length.
Smullen said: "She's a nice filly and did it well. She is still immature and green so to win first time out was very good.
"With a winter on her back she could be a nice filly next year."
