Studio City easily lands the odds

Odds-on favourite Studio City (1/3 into 2/9 before the off) got the job done with the minimum of fuss in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
The Cotai Glory colt, runner-up to subsequent Listed winner Wodao over course and distance on his previous outing in May, made all and went clear over a furlong out to beat Hilltop Gold by half a dozen lengths.
With winning trainer Michael O'Callaghan in Newmarket to saddle Twilight Jet in the July Cup, it was left to jockey Colin Keane to give an appraisal of the performance.
"I suppose he was entitled to do that, his form has worked out well," said Keane.
"When I picked him up down by the two (pole), I thought he quickened up well under hands and heels. I suppose it was like a solid piece of work for him to be honest.
"I'd say he has come forward from his last run here and maybe a better race will bring out more improvement when he doesn't have to do the hard work in front himself.
"A nice little bonny horse and handles that good ground well, and I couldn't see why he wouldn't go an extra furlong either.
"I struggled to pull him up as well, so he's a nice horse going forward. "
