On her return to action after seven months off, Stormie Outlook (14/1) gained a first win when coming late to land the Societies Welcome At Gowran Park Golf Club Handicap.
Owned in partnership by Sean H Reynolds and trainer Edward O'Grady, the daughter of Bated Breath swept down the centre of the track and collared Pink Socks in the final strides to score by a neck
Heffernan said: “She's a five-year-old and she was probably a little bit immature. Her last couple of bits of work have been smart.
“She's ran very good races in the past but has been a bit frustrating. Hopefully this year now she's at her full strength.
“I've ridden her a good bit of work. Luckily this year I'm freelance so I'm putting myself about. I'd like Mr O'Grady to have a few more horses for me.
“Her last couple of bits of work have been smart and I thought she'd take a bit of beating if she did things right and everything worked out.
“I always thought I was going to get there and picked them up."
