The Andy Oliver trained Stephen Hero came out on the 'right side' of a tight photo finish to the 'Girls Night Out at Clonmel Races' Handicap at Clonmel this evening, winning under Chris Hayes. Sceilg under ten pounds claimer Daniel Redmond, looked likely to win in the straight but drifted left across the track at a crucial stage with a furlong to race, allowing Stephen Hero and eventual third placed Sweet Refusal into the race along the inside rail.
At the winning line, Stephen Hero held a short head advantage over Sceilg, which had drifted to the stands' rail, with three parts of a length back to Sweet Refusal.
Co Tyrone based Oliver wasn't present but Hayes did later say “that was only his second run in handicap company and he'll improve for it.”
