Confident Star finished off strongly to grab the spoils in the Coolmore Gleneagles Irish EBF Maiden, giving Shane Foley and Jessica Harrington a double on the card at Cork this evening.
Ballydoyle debutant Aikhal made a brave bid from the front in the seven furlong juvenile contest but couldn't hold the late charge of the 11/10 favourite.
Foley got a good tune from the Lope De Vega colt in the final furlong as he led close home to secure a half length success.
The winner had been narrowly denied on his last outing at Roscommon.
Stable representative Richie Galway said:- "He was unlucky in Roscommon and is still not the finished article. It took him a while to get into gear but he won snugly at the line.
"He was well bought by Michael Donohoe at the breeze-ups and Shane will talk to Jessie but I'd say it'll be baby steps with him as he is a horse for next year.
"He is by a hot stallion and is one to look forward to."
