Stamp Of Authority got his rivals on the stretch turning for home to land the Gabriel Howard Memorial Handicap at Bellewstown.
Karen Kenny chased the leaders on the 16/1 shot before hitting the front passing the five pole in the extended seven-furlong contest.
The Invincible Spirit had his rivals at work running down the hill and had enough in reserves in the closing stages to hold the late effort of Alfirak by a length-and-a-quarter.
The winner had run well at Sligo last time when beaten a neck by Musical Jewel but was easy to back today having been as short as 7/1 this morning.
McCourt, "I was afraid of the ground as I thought he generally wanted a dig in the ground.
“He's been very well lately, and from the start of the year I told Karen she could ride away on him as I thought she'd suit him.
"He's just gone a bit clever and wants to be in control. Last year he was getting very slow out of the stalls and wasn't enjoying it. It's grand to win local, and he might come back on Friday for a claimer."
