Fozzy Stack and Chris Hayes teamed up for a near 18/1 double at Naas as Meaningful Vote landed the Shareinthefun At Syndicates.Racing Blackwater Handicap.
The son of Pivotal was put up 10lb by the handicapper after filling the runner-up spot behind Sonnyboyliston at Gowran Park last month but was still well-supported here.
The 11/4 chance, 7/1 this morning before the field was reduced to eight after two non-runners, was produced to challenge between horses over a furlong out.
Hayes’ mount got the better of Fame And Acclaim inside the final furlong to beat that rival by three quarters of a length. The pair drew four lengths clear of Arranmore in third.
Stack said, “He’s improving and was probably a bit weak last year. He’s an idle horse and Conor Maxwell has done a good job with him. He rides him in all his work and rode him in his last two races but unfortunately couldn’t ride him with the weight.
“We ran into one at Gowran and as a result were 10lb higher today in a better quality race. He’s done it well and probably needed it a bit in Gowran as he wouldn’t kill himself at home. He’ll probably get a bit further too.”
Stack and Hayes were on the mark earlier with Star Of Cashel (4/1) in the seven-furlong handicap.
