Soon times it right
The regally-bred Soon grabbed valuable brackets with a last gasp success in the filles maiden at Galway. Redoutable made a bold bid from the front in the seven-furlong contest but was just denied on the line.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained Soon stayed on strongly in the closing stages to press the leader and got her head in front in the dying strides.
The winner, a daughter of Galileo and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Classic Park, had finished fourth on her debut at the Curragh last month when she was just over four lengths behind the runner-up.
"She's a very well-bred filly. Aidan trained the dam to win a Guineas," said Heffernan afterwards.
"I was always confident she would stick her neck out when i needed her.
"She had a nice run at the Curragh. She stays well and you have to stay here up that hill."
Gary Carson
