Trainer John Murphy registered his third winner in three weeks when his Song Of The Sky under Declan McDonogh, gained a maiden win in the Arkle Bar Handicap at Navan today.
The daughter of Rip Van Winkle had failed to win in six previous starts but today made no mistake when improving to lead inside the final furlong before scoring a two and a half lengths win over Sixtyfiveroses
Murphy wasn’t present but McDonogh later stated “she was dropping back from a mile-and-a-half to a mile and travelled quite easily. She seemed to like the ground and stayed going well.
“She’s grand and might win again and John’s horses are running well.”
