Son Of Corballis made all to spring a 25/1 shock in the Coolmore Ten Sovereigns Tipperary Stakes.
The Kieran Cotter-trained colt had won over course and distance on his debut in April before making little impression in listed company at Sandown the following month.
It was a different story today as he bounced out in front, on the near side, in this listed contest and answered every call in the closing stages under Declan McDonogh.
The son of Raven's Pass, wearing cheekpieces for the first time, kept on well in the final furlong to post a neck verdict over the dead-heating pair in second, Alabama and Gaenari
"If he hadn't run in Sandown he'd have been second-favourite today. He didn't travel over well to Sandown, got interfered at the start and dropped back to last,” said Cotter.
"He was a bit sick when he came home but we gave him plenty time to recover and knew we had him 100% today.
"He is in the Weatherbys Super Sprint (July 22nd) with just 8st 10lb so that is a nice pot to be heading for after here, if he isn't sold. He is a good tough horse and should have a good career ahead of him.
"He wouldn't want the ground any slower than good."
