Son Of My Heart gives Ross quickfire double
Trainer Cecil Ross and jockey Robbie Colgan sealed a double at Sligo when Son Of My Heart justified market support to power home by eight lengths in the colts and geldings maiden hurdle.
The American bred gelding was backed from 4/1 to 9/4 favouritism and saw the two mile two furlong trip out well to score from Edward O'Grady's Estrella Brage who was uneasy in the market, drifting from 11/4 to 4/1.
Ross was delighted to win the first two races at the meeting. He said: "We came here with two horses with chances, hoping for the best. Miraculously it came off.
"They are two reasonable horses with form enough to win here if it went right. Thank God it went right.
"I'd like to thank the two owners [Gary Molloy and James J Reilly]. They are loyal decent people.
"Son Of My Heart will be kept going. I'll look at Bellewstown type meetings. He needs an ease in the ground and wouldn't run on hard ground."
