Somalia Road delivers for Lee
Gillian Lee's Somalia Road under Philip Enright, sprang a 16/1 surprise when winning the Ballybeggan Racegoers Club EBF Novice Hurdle at Tralee today.
The son of Topanoora raced prominently but was under strong pressure from three out. However, the 102 rated gelding responded well to Enright's urgings, eventually getting to the front after the second last for a length and half win over Sherney
Afterwards a delighted Lee (based in Ballingarry, Co Limerick and a sister of jockey Bill Lee) stated "Somalia Road always looked a good horse at home and jumping him out in second place (in-running) was a big help today and he just kept galloping. I've no immediate plans for him."
