The Willie McCreery trained, Godolphin owned Snowstar booked her Stakes race ticket with a win at the Curragh today, landing the Mongey Communications Apprentice Handicap under promising 7lbs claimer Nathan Crosse.
McCreery and Crosse teamed up for a win at Tipperary on Friday and doubled their score for the week with the half length winner Snowstar.
McCreery later commented “she's rated 79 and that's a 50-80 race so I said I'd throw her into it because she'll be gone out of that now. The hope was to win and we'll probably head for a Listed race at the end of the month in Tipperary next.
“The whole thing with these sprinters is teaching them how to sprint and she's learning how to sprint. I thought Nathan gave her a lovely ride and did exactly what I asked him to do as well. The bit of cover helped her a lot.
“Today she still idled a bit when she hit the front but she put it to bed very quickly. She travels like a sprinter and is improving all the time.”
