Smullen wins aboard Firey Red
Punters were kept happy when 5/4 favourite Firey Red from the Dermot Weld stable landed the Weatherby’s Ireland GSB Limited Supporting I.T.B.A Race under Pat Smullen in the familiar colours of Moyglare Stud Farm.
Winning trainer Weld stated afterwards, “We will go for the Fairy Bridge in Tipperary towards the end of August next. She won over 6 furlongs here on her only start as a two year old. A mile today was probably as far as she’d want, I’ve always had it in my mind that she was 7 furlong horse.”
“Regarding Galway if I had to tip one of mine it would be Vital Plot in the Galway Hurdle. He is a very adaptable ground wise and he jumps very well” added Weld.
Weld also revealed, “Majestic Concorde’s participation in the Galway Plate I would have to say is very unlikely that he’ll run due to the ground.”
