"It was Pat's first ride for me and he gave him a brilliant ride. Tom Madden was to ride him but he was suspended so when I was offered Pat, I could hardly refuse!," stated Charles Byrnes after Pat Smullen brought home his favourite, Red House Hill in the concluding Best Odds Guaranteed At 188BET Handicap at Limerick.
Smullen had taken the opener for his boss, Dermot Weld, on Maneen and in this 'night-cap' he forced Red House Hill into a length and a half victory over Tap Focus
"He needs an ease and while he might go back hurdling at some stage, he's small and will be kept going at this game," the local handler added.
Red House Hill headed Aussie Guest (eventual third) over a furlong out before going on for his win.
